*** NEWS FLASH ***
“The Global Automotive & Mobility Innovation Challenge or GAMIC designed to identify innovative companies, cultivate new technologies and solutions, and hasten their adoption into the automotive industry” said David Stout, SAE International board of directors and GAMIC co-chair. “Founded as a collaboration between SAE and the MI Innovation Alliance, GAMIC has been exceedingly beneficial to our entrant companies in both funding and commercialization.”
GAMIC-alumni success stories include:
- 2008 1st-year winner EmiSense Technologies, now a unit of CoorsTek Sensors, which has secured nealry $10 million in funding for clean technologies to digitally measure oxygen and nitrous-oxide with better cost and accuracy, and whose products are going into vehicle production for model year 2017
- 2014 6th-year winner Covaron Advanced Materials, which has raised $2 million in funding and obtained several partners for their cold ceramic molding products
- 2015 7th-year winner SiNode Systems, which has been awarded $4 million to develop advanced battery materials for electric vehicles
“The automotive market needs better and faster innovation to keep up with global consumer expectations and regulatory changes,” said Dennis Nash, MI Innovation Alliance and GAMIC co-chair. “The OEMs and major suppliers are looking for innovative partners, and GAMIC is helping to bring those companies forward. We are excited by the continuing success of our previous year winners, and look forward to what the 9th Annual Challenge competition has in store for the industry.”
With exposure to over 15,000 transportation and mobility executives, engineers, investors, innovators and entrepreneurship supporters, GAMIC is building new bridges across engineering, R&D, business development and executive management – to better balance internal and external innovation; to improve the pace of meeting major consumer needs; and to help create new business model opportunities in the personal transportation space.
